Beach front fishing is on fire right now for sharks. Our clients are catching several within the 4-5ft range.
A few charters to Matagorda Texas have been good for reds on the beach front. One group of guys from Galveston caught a 42 lb ling in the high banks.
The beach conditions are semi good with big weed mats rolling in on high tides. The beach yesterday 7/7/10 was scattered with sparse amounts of weed at
San Luis Pass. Their was allot of bait and few fish.
Beach conditions on the upper coast is weed free 3/23/2010
The fishing has picked up big time on the staging of the 2010 drum run. We are catching allot of Black drum in the last 4 weeks.
The Current situation is Red Tide. Red Tide is a dinoflagellate known as Karenia Brevis. Its an algae that blooms in the fall months with the
right conditions of salinity and nutrition in the water. It produces a neurotoxin that is fatal to fish.

RED TIDE is present along the beach front of PINS as of 11 Oct. Not visable; nor were any dead fish but aerosol irration was present in varying degrees throughout the day. I could be used as an early warning system for Red Tide as years of over exposure have made me hyperallergic to it; so I know if it's there in even small quanities. No dead fish were observed yesterday and the red tide was not visable. I'm back down there tomorrow. We experienced heavy rains "down island" yesterday and my hopes are that the fresh water will help dilute the bloom. Things are running late in the surf and the best is yet to come. I anticipate late Oct. and November to afford us some really spectacular fishing if the red tide disappears. Driving is fine and water remain trout green to clear. High tides are extremely high so avoid traveling on high tides. Keep your fingers crossed concerning the red tide and plan your trips to take place following incoming Cold Fronts.
